Don't be a Chump! Check for a Lump! is a local 501(c)3 non-profit. Our mission is to motivate women to perform breast self-exams and have mammograms performed, to increase the chances of detecting breast cancer in its early stages. We strive to educate women regarding breast health. We also offer direct assistance to breast cancer patients through our ‘Wig Out’ program, which provides free custom wigs to breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in Arizona. We have been in operation since 2010. In this short amount of time we have established our foundation as a prominent figure in the breast cancer world through our educational program. We have worked with several important figures in the valley including Susan G. Komen, Arizona Young Breast Cancer Survivor Support Initiative, included on the board of the Azbreastcancer.org, and many other local breast cancer related non-profits in the valley. We have made a significant impact in our community through our wig assistance program, having provided over 100 wigs to women undergoing treatment through breast cancer. We are gaining momentum with our foundation in our volume of supporters and the clients we assist with wigs. Our community outreach includes our educational and assistance program and reaches approximately 50,000 women in the valley through our participation in health fairs, women’s expos, festivals, 5k runs, corporate presentations and fundraising events like our flash mob. Our social media marketing consists of our Facebook page, website, monthly email newsletters, YouTube videos, and twitter are also in the thousands. As of 2013, our Facebook page has over 1000 likes and in the first quarter we have received 1945 views on our page; 68% female viewers. In the past year our YouTube page received 5,450 views. 86% of these views were in Arizona, 83% women and 93% of the women are age 35-64.This year we have made it one of our goals to increase our outreach to the community. One of the ways we are doing this is through our new Wig Out at Work program that brings breast health education to the workplace and leagues through our powerpoint presentation. We expect to reach thousands of women in small group settings. Each year we participate in the Ultimate Women’s Expo that has an attendance of 30,000 women, the Phoenix Mercury Rock the Pink, 10,000 attendants, the Arizona Breast Cancer Resource Expo, 1,000 attendants, various women’s leagues, our flash mob that reaches thousands through the event itself, airtime on the news and views on YouTube and our Facebook page. Our goal for the year 2014 is to distribute at least 10,000 informational and promotional folders to women in Maricopa County at the events we participate in and through the health care providers we work with. We want to provide women with our educational information on breast health and our wig out assistance program. In addition, we would like to include respected companies we know and trust who we can recommend to women regarding breast health including; mammograms, breast surgeon, oncologist, radiologist, breast reconstruction and support. We hope that you will consider working with us. I am available to meet with you at your convenience to discuss any questions you may have. We are also open to any ideas you may have to improve our package in order to meet your needs. You can also view our social media sites for more information on our foundation.
